How Barker Establishes the Theme of Emasculation in Part 1 of ââ¬ËRegenerationââ¬â¢. - Literature Essay Samples
Masculinity, especially in the context of the early twentieth-century, can be defined through the ability to dominate and control. Throughout Part 1, Barker draws our attention to the way in which the war itself has become responsible for a situation in which thousands of men are broken, traumatised and in crisis. She does this through the characters W.H.R. Rivers, an exhausted war doctor, and his ââ¬Ëshell-shockedââ¬â¢ patients. Among these are Burns, who cannot keep his food down after a disgusting experience, Anderson, a physician terrified by the sight of blood, and the mute amnesiac Prior. It is through Riversââ¬â¢ treatment of these patients that Barker conveys the emasculating effect of life on the front line. It is mostly from Dr Riversââ¬â¢ point of view that Barker presents ideas about emasculation in Part 1 of Regeneration. Barker places Rivers, who was a real man with the rank of Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), as the central character of ââ¬ËRegenerationââ¬â¢. This plays an important unifying function within the novel. For the most part, Rivers is the figure around whom all the other characters revolve. The treatment of his patients leads to his ultimate realisation at the end of Chapter 5 that ââ¬ËIn advising them to remember the traumatic events that had led to their being sent here, he was, in effect, inflicting painââ¬â¢, this pain being closely linked to emasculation. The men cannot again become ââ¬Ëwhat it is to be a manââ¬â¢, when the treatment takes that away. Rivers himself does not feel emasculated, but Barker uses his point of view to give the reader insight into the emasculation of the patients in Part 1. Perhaps one of the most obvious examples of an emasculated character in Part 1 of Regeneration is Billy Prior. In this case, Barker uses the symptoms of mutism and amnesia to present ideas about emasculation. In Chapter 5, when Barker first introduces us to Prior, he repetitively uses the note ââ¬ËI DONââ¬â¢T REMEMBERââ¬â¢ as well as the presentation of the note ââ¬ËNO MORE WORDSââ¬â¢ in response to Riversââ¬â¢ assertion that he will regain his memory. These short sentences, which provide no medically useful information, evokes the question of whether Prior does not actually remember his service, or if he does not want to remember his experience as it will be emasculating. In this sense, Barker presents emasculation as something that Prior, and the patients in general, wish to avoid. Of all the characters in ââ¬ËRegenerationââ¬â¢, it is Barkerââ¬â¢s portrayal of Burns that most clearly expresses the emasculation caused by the horror of twentieth-century warfare. Based upon an actual figure treated by Rivers, Burnsââ¬â¢ experience is repellent in the extreme, and even Rivers can find ââ¬Ëno redeeming featureââ¬â¢ that will enable him to help Burns come to terms with it. When describing the surreal episode when he strips himself naked in the countryside outside Craiglockhart, Barker makes use of sensual imagery to relate the scene to experience of the frontline. She says that ââ¬Ëhe listened for the whine of shellsââ¬â¢ and that ââ¬Ëhis fingers touched slimeââ¬â¢. This shows how the content of his mind becomes imprinted on the landscape, transforming it into the image of the battlefield he cannot leave behind. It is clear that this scene links to the concept of emasculation when he ââ¬Ëcupped his genitals in his handââ¬â¢. The id ea that ââ¬Ëthey didnââ¬â¢t seem to belong to the rest of himââ¬â¢ suggests that the war has emotionally castrated him and taken away his manhood. This is truly indicative of the emasculating effect of war. Barker also establishes the theme of emasculation through the case of Anderson. His descriptions of his dream of being tied up in ladiesââ¬â¢ corsets and beaten with a stick which has a snake coiled around it symbolically expresses Andersonââ¬â¢s deep anxiety regarding his masculine identity. The snake is a Freudian phallic symbol, but it also relates to his medical career. The RAMC, of which both Anderson and Rivers are members, uses as its emblem a staff with a snake coiled around it. The dream indicates that Anderson is emasculated, not only by his traumatic war experiences, but also by his inability to continue his everyday life away from war. The principal symptom of his war trauma, a deeply rooted phobia of blood, not only makes it impossible for him to continue to work as an army doctor, but also affects his long-term ability to provide for his wife and child which means that his position as the traditional masculine husband is jeopardised. It seems that Barkerââ¬â¢s purpose for the establishment of the theme of emasculation in Part 1 of ââ¬ËRegenerationââ¬â¢ is to convey the central paradox of war. Although being a soldier is a traditionally manly pursuit, it can deprive a man of his masculinity; causing surgeons to collapse at the sight of blood and courageous fighters to become weeping, trembling hysterics. Barkerââ¬â¢s wide scope of characterisation means that most aspects of wartime emasculation are successfully conveyed.

Pleasantville Essay - 1690 Words
Pleasantville Essay A lot can happen in sixty years, and America is no exception to that statement. It is arguable that one of the biggest differences regarding America in the 1950s to modern America is culture. The movie ââ¬Å"Pleasantvilleâ⬠reflects much of these cultural differences from 1950s to today in a creative and thoughtful way. It also provides much useful insight into the cultural conflicts America faced throughout the 1950s. Furthermore, the movie Pleasantville reflects some of the cultural conflicts of the 1950s. To begin, racial discrimination in the 1950s was extremely prominent in society. Whites discriminated against blacks because they were taught that anyone different than themselves was evil. Pleasantville portrays this when the citizens thereof begin changing color from black and white to color. These people represent an embrace of cultural change which goes against the normal, stable and secure status quo. The people of color are persecuted against by those of black and white color because they feel their existence is threatened by this symbol of change. For example, this persecution is seen in the scene when Betty Parker is persecuted by five black and white people while out in town. The five boys threaten her with verbal and physical attacks, as would blacks or ââ¬Å"coloredsâ⬠would be by whites in the 1950s. Another cultural conflict exemplified by Pleasantville is changing teenage culture. Two ideas that challenged the cultural status quo in the ââ¬â¢50s were the idea that sex is ok, and Rock n Roll. Teena gers embraced these changes, and these changes are seen in Pleasantville. For example, a location called ââ¬Å"loverââ¬â¢s laneâ⬠is where teens would go in this movie to participate in taboo, status quo-challenging sexual activity with the opposite sex. Kung Fu Panda free essay sample
Kung Fu Panda textual analysis Kung fu panda is set in the Valley of Peace, where the people of the valley are threatened by the late arrival of the evil snow leopard, Tai Lung. An ancient prophecy states that a hero, also known as ââ¬Ëthe chosen oneââ¬â¢ will appear out of nowhere to save the people in the valley, and the masters of martial arts have devised a competition in order to find this individual. However it is assumed that the chosen one will be a member of the Furious Five-the level-headed Crane, the easygoing yet formidable Monkey, the fast and quick-tempered Mantis, the charming and strong Viper, and Tigress, the boldest and strongest of the group- but when Po arrives he is the one selected by the master, Oogway. Po is in love with kung fu, we see this at the beginning when he wakes up from his dream and looks at his posters and models of the Furious Five. Regardless of him being big, clumsy and working in a noodle shop he still dreams of meeting the furious five. Po doesnââ¬â¢t want to disappoint his father and so decides not to share his love for kung fu but to keep it a secret. Although he is friendly, Po has very low self- esteem and believes that his failure is due to his obesity. When he feels depressed or upset, he usually stuffs himself with food to ease the pain. Master Shifu is Oogwayââ¬â¢s student and the furious fiveââ¬â¢s trainer. We first see him as a peaceful character who is old friends with Oogway. He never smiles at first because of his past. However, further on in the film he smiles because Po defeats Tai Lung and brings peace to the valley and most importantly to him. At the beginning of the film Shifu is unwilling to train Po and doesnââ¬â¢t believe that he has what it takes to defeat Tai Lung and makes Poââ¬â¢s training unbearable to achieve. After much convincing from Oogway, Shifu realizes that he must believe in Po in order for him to be successful. Master Oogway is an old tortoise. He is presented to be very wise and superior. The people of the valley and the furious five all look up to him and treat him with respect. Early on in the film, just when Oogway convinces Shifu to believe in Po, master oogway dies and leaves Shifu to continue his quest by training the dragon warrior(Po). Master Mantis is the smallest amongst the furious five, but is the strongest for his size. We see that size doesnââ¬â¢t matter when the mantis holds a roped bridge on his own with the Tai Lung standing on it. The mantis is also a good acupuncturist although he struggles when dealing with Po at first. Master Viper is a green snake and is the most sweetest, and caring of the furious five. Although she doesnââ¬â¢t have fangs, which is weird for a snake, her fast kung fu moves are amazing. She is one of the first to comfort Po whist the others see him as a ââ¬Ëwaste of timeââ¬â¢. Master Crane is presented to be the most patient of the Furious five and he is also the first to start a conversation with Po although it is awkward at first. Crane is like the ââ¬Ëmother henââ¬â¢ of the group although he is a male. In fighting situations, Crane flies around scanning the area for any danger and keeps a look out for any of his team falling and preparing himself to catch them. Master Monkey is the friendliest out of the five, and the easiest to approach. He was the first out of the five to recognize Poââ¬â¢s determination for kung fu. Master Monkey is the only one that calls Po from his first name and respects his kind loving nature. Monkey uses a traditional kung fu weapon to help him in his battles, a staff. Master Tigress is the ââ¬Ëprotectorââ¬â¢ of the group. She is the strongest and boldest however she is the least sociable. It is obvious throughout the film that Master Tigress was meant to be chosen as the Dragon Warrior but after Poââ¬â¢s unexpected arrival she is not. This leads her to dislike Po and not respect him. When her group and Po are laughing and joking together she doesnââ¬â¢t participate. Tai Lung is presented to be the ââ¬Ëevil villainââ¬â¢ of the film. The whole valley is scared of him. Tai Lung was sent to Chorh-Gom Prison, a maximum-security institution, until his escape two decades later, this suggests he has excellent martial arts skills and is dangerous. When faced with Po,Tai Lung insults his obesity and the fact that he is a panda ( pandas are not seen as an important animal in Chinese culture). Mr Ping is Poââ¬â¢s father and owns the most popular noodle shop in the Valley. He hopes that his son will continue to operate the shop, wishing to share with him the familys secret recipe to great noodles. Ping is shown to be selfish in a way as he does not let his son follow his dream of martial arts. Despite this fact, father and son share a deep mutual love and respect; this shows why Po does not wish to disappoint his father. The place where master oogway ascends is an important scene. The scene includes a peach tree which holds a special significance for Master Oogway. The way it is presented is very calm, with leaves flying in a peaceful manner. The tree is a symbol of longevity and renewal and its wood is said to ward off evil and its petal to have magical properties. He carved his staff from the wood of this tree and sprinkled a handful of petals in the Moon Pool in the Jade Palace every morning. Oogway called the tree that grew from the seed the Peach Tree of Heavenly Wisdom. It is a sacred place for him, the place he comes to meditate. Other places in the film are presented similarly. They are shown to have significance. For example when master Shifu and Po are in ââ¬Ëjadeââ¬â¢s palaceââ¬â¢, the palace is sacred and is the great kung fu school, home of Chinas greatest heroes, the Furious Five. Although the social groups in the film are made of animals, they have human-like behaviours. At the beginning of the film when Po is serving noodles to his customers and hears that Oogway is choosing the dragon warrior, he rushes to serve his food and the customers (a mother rabbit with her children) look frustrated and he children start crying. There are many stereotypes shown in the film, the most obvious one is about fat people. Po is seen to be an unlikely candidate for heroism merely because he doesnââ¬â¢t look the part. His overweight body, clumsy personality and eating habits imply than he is not worthy to become the dragon warrior. The movie has a very clear message of respect for bodily differences. The Furious Five, a tigress, viper, monkey, crane, and mantis, all have different bodies. The mantis is tiny and fragile, and a great fighter. While there is a lot of humor and mockery based on fat jokes at the pandaââ¬â¢s expense, he learns to believe in himself. Jack Black was the directorsââ¬â¢ first choice for the role of Po; Po represented Jack Blacks personality, a charming, innocent, goodhearted character. Jack black has used his voice for many characters but this was the first time he used his own in Kung Fu Panda. Stevenson, the director did a lot of research into making the film seem as real as possible; ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s not a particular time period, but down to the details of roof shingles and water buckets and the tables and the cutlery, we did a lot of research to make sure that there was nothing in terms of the architecture or the references that would be incorrect. Initially the directors wanted to address the film with a Chinese backdrop throughout. The target audience for Kung Fu Panda is initially for kids, after the screening, the kids in the audience were practicing their kung fu chops, obviously excited by the action of the film. It is aimed at children who enjoy kung fu and action. The gender is for both girls and boys and conveys a good message. Since the film is based on kung fu it is obvious that the film originates from a Chinese background. The texts meaning effects the target from a passive persons point of view because it can lead people to agree with the fact that all fat people are lazy and donââ¬â¢t get anywhere in life. From an active persons point of view one might disagree and say that not all people are like that. To keep the audience entertained, the producers have used high quality animation effects and bright colors. The characters each have different personalities which make the audience enjoy it more because they donââ¬â¢t get bored of just one character. Kung Fu Panda is a 2008 American animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It was directed by John Wayne Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb. The film was supposed to have been a parody but the director decided to shoot it as an action martial arts comedy in the spirit of Hong Kong. The film initially started showing in America on June 6th, 2008. The reviews were excellent. Kung Fu Panda opened in 4,114 theaters, and was a hit! Grossing $20. 3à million on its opening day and $60. 2à million on its opening weekend. There are many camera shots used within the film. At the beginning of the film when Po stops dreaming, we see a long shot of Po and his surroundings. Within his surroundings we see Chinese bowls and dishes with chopsticks stacked in a pile. These images suggest that he is in a Chinese restaurant. We then see an extremely long shot which then shows us more dishes and pots. The camera angles we see when Po gets up are a ââ¬Ëhigh angle shotââ¬â¢ which looks down upon Po making him seem slightly small at first. The mise en scene throughout the film includes images and objects of kung fu warriors as well as Chinese cutlery and objects. This makes the audience feel as if they are in a Chinese surrounding and gives them an idea of the objects and people in a Chinese environment. The clothing of the people is also of a Chinese culture; the girls wear a traditional Chinese dress. Master Shifu has a long thin mustache which is traditional in the Chinese culture. The actions of the furious five in battle are kung fu moves which again reflect the Chinese culture. One of the denotations in the film is when master Shifu accepts to teach Po kung fu and Po then gives up and starts running away, master Shifu then stops him. This scene captures the moment, we see a soft side to Po and how he feels about his weight. The connotation suggests that even a big animal such as Po needs someone to guide him no matter how tough he looks he still needs someone to believe in him in order to succeed. Ideology is a key aspect in the film. At the beginning we see that the whole valley idolizes master Oogway. However after his death we see that master Shifu is equally respected. Po idolizes the furious five and dreams of becoming like them. We notice from the very start of the film his love towards the furious five. The film uses a linear narrative. The film is shown in chronological order; we can assume what the ending is going to be like. This is good technique for children as they do not get confused as to where the story is going to end. The film uses Proppââ¬â¢s narrative theory: there is a hero(Po), villain(Tai Lung), mentor(Master Oogway), helper(Master Shifu), dispatcher(Mr Ping), blocker(Furious five) and a prize(Dragon scroll) involved in the film. The genre for Kung Fu Panda is an Animation, Comedy theme. We identify this through the funny comments Po makes and some of the situations involved for example; when Master Shifu has a mini battle with Po over a rice cake. The film is a sub-genre as it involves comedy. This means that the audience will be expecting to see funny scenes throughout the film. The film addresses these expectations and has achieved the title of being a ââ¬Ëfun, animation comedyââ¬â¢. Overall, the film conveys a variety of messages; the most obvious one is that the individual who believes in himself will succeed, even if the odds are against him-This is explained by Poââ¬â¢s determination and his victory towards the end. The furious five learn that they should not judge by first impressions, and that their own superior knowledge and skills do not entitle them to humiliate those who are less competent. The secret of the dragon scroll also indicates the powerful role played by belief in structuring human behaviour. When Poââ¬â¢s father explains to him that the secret is in his noodle soup is ââ¬Ënothingââ¬â¢ and that things are only made special if people believe they are special, Po is able to relate it to the dragon scroll. He realises that things donââ¬â¢t just happen, you have to believe in yourself in order to achieve.

Question: Discuss About The Professional Information And Communication? Answer: Introduction This report is all about network security which is a security system designed for a network to block unauthorized access and various kinds of threats. It also focuses to improvise the job of network admin to create some preventive measures to protect their network system from any kind of threat. Various system round the globe that does all the vital transaction and communication of regularly need security for protecting the data which contain vital information. It mainly keeps a track on different threats that may arise in a network. Network security mainly works by adding different layers of various security defenses. The different types of network application available in present industry are intrusion detection system, firewalls and data-centric security. Firewall is type of network security system that is mainly used for maintenance and regulation of traffic over the internet using basic protocol and methods (Rasthofer et al.,2014). Firewall exists in mainly two forms that DHCP server which is hardware component and there are some software firewalls are mainly used for protection of system from various threats. Software firewall is mainly used by organization for protection against the breach of data which contains vital information. Data centric security mainly provide security against the breach of important data which contain vital information. No organization round the globe can claim that it is purely immune to various cyber-attacks. The report mainly focuses on promoting the use of various technological services like firewall, intrusion detection system, data centric which can be proved beneficial for various organization round the globe. Various limitation of intrusion detection system will be discussed in the coming pages of this report. Intrusion detection system does not block or prevent attack of various malware softwares (Suh et al., 2014). The attacks of various malware can be stopped by the help of an experienced and well-trained engineer. Among all the methods this particular method uses protocol based attacks (PBA). Discussion Network Security can be defined as the security which is designed for a network from unauthorized access and risks. It is the job of network admin to design some preventive measures to save their network from any kinds of threats or danger. Computer system that makes transaction and communication on a regular basis needs security for protecting its data with contain vital information. It can also be referred to as an activity which is mainly created for protecting the various network and data containing important information (Rasthofer et al.,2014). It is mainly to check different threats that may arise in a network. The best way to protect a network is to assign it a unique name and a password corresponding to it (Chen et al., 2015). Network security works by combining different layers of security defenses. Different security layer uses policies and control for its working (Demchenko, De Laat Membrey, 2014). It allows only authorized user to access the network and blocks any unknown user to save the network from exploitation and threats. Digitization has changed the living style of various people across the globe (Suh et al., 2014). It is the duty of every organization to check the network security as any fault in it may compromise with service given to a customer. Network security aims to protect important information from any attack (Chen et al., 2015). There are various types of security devices involved in a network like active device, passive device, preventative device, unified threat management. Active devices mainly refer to certain devices that cuts down unwanted traffic. Firewall, Antivirus scanning devices is considered as active device. Passive device helps in identifying unwanted traffic and intrusion detection appliance can be referred as a passive device (Suh et al., 2014). Preventive devices help in scanning the network and checks any security problems related to it. Unified threat management devices is considered as the best device as it does all the work of different devices like firewall, content filtering, web catching and many other things (Chen et al., 2015). Different types of Network Security Application Three different types of network application used in present market are intrusion detection system, firewalls and Data-Centric-Security. Firewall is nothing but a network security system that aims in maintenance and regulation of traffic over the network using some basic protocols. (Chen, 2013). Firewalls exists in two forms like as hardware and hardware appliance. Some firewalls that are hardware based acts like DHCP server over the network. Now days many computers use different types of software based firewalls to prevent its data from any network threats. Modern router that transfer data over network contains firewall components which is mainly used for performing basic routing function. The basic function of firewall that is used in private network is to prevent unauthorized access of device to the internet. Every important information that passes through internet will have to go through firewall for examination of different security checks. A perfect firewall system consists of both type of devices like hardware and software. It also aims in providing easy access to personal networks through various certificates and logins. Hardware firewalls are solo products. These types of firewalls are mainly found in routers used by various broadband services. Hardware firewalls prvide the freedom to use four port networks in any system. For larger network, it provides business firewall solutions also. Software firewalls are mainly used to protect system from various threats from internet. It is mainly used by various firms to protect them against the breach of any important data (Chen, 2013). Intrusion detection system is also known as intrusion detection and prevention system are considered as various appliances that helps in monitoring of unknown activates over the internet and keeps a track of all the necessary information and various methods or steps that can be taken to stop the activity. Intrusion detection system aims to build an alarm system for any unknown activity in the network, drops the various packets and many times it resets the whole connection and protects the system from any damage or blockage (Chen, 2013). Intrusion detection system can perform many activities like to detect correction cyclic redundancy check and any errors related to it, prevention of transmission control protocol relating issues (Demchenko, De Laat Membrey, 2014). It also aims to create unwanted transport and layers of various network. Intrusion prevention system is another technology which extends the solution of IDS by including the ability to block various threats which are detect ed by it. It has become the important option for checking various technology like IDS and IPS technology. IDA only detects threats which are placed out of band of the network infrastructure which means that is does not have any kind of passage for communication between the receiver and sender of the information. IDS solution mainly uses TAP port for checking inline traffic which mainly checks that it does not affect the performance of inline network. The main function of IDA is to check the traffic (Demchenko, De Laat Membrey, 2014). Data-centric security mainly aims to provide security against the breach of important data. No organization in the world is immune to various cyber-attacks. Data-centric security aims to provide following key points like data discovery, data classification, data tagging and watermarking, data loss prevention, visibility of data, identity management, access of data through cloud system. Tools used by data discovery mainly helps organization to get a detail information about the location, volume, context and all the types of risk associated with it. Data classification aims to provide various policies and tools which can be used to separate valuable information which can be targeted from a less important information. Data tagging aims to ensure that all the containing important information can be found easily. Data is mainly tag to produce its security classification and other important information related to it. Data loss prevention mainly used for identification and protection of dat a which can be in motion on networks and data at rest in various storage devices like desktop, laptop, mobile phone and tablets. Data visibility allows various organization to check how structured and unstructured can be processed (Liang Xiao, 2013). Identity and access management aims to protect data by checking that only authorized people has the access to right information at correct time and for ethical reasons (Liang Xiao, 2013). Corporate networks provide a global platform where user from various domains can access the required information at right time. Organization are increase the need of various application and are more focusing in moving their application to cloud (Liang Xiao, 2013). Cloud access security brokers mainly aims to protect important data by improving its access control, access and analysis of important data (Knapp Langill, 2014) Brenna nit is considered to be an effective information and/or network security solution in Australia. It mainly aims to provide better network visibility and network monitoring from various application level attacks. Expansion of Organization In the next five-year firewall method can protect the internal network of a business from any kind of damage from unknown source. A firewall contains a list of control list which can be used to block authorized access and only allow approved routes. Firewall helps in making internal IP addresses private and also checks that the information and system are not exposed to hackers. The ultimate goal is to create a public IP address so that the private IP may work as a public IP. By following the above three methods the network architecture can work properly it also helps in easy monitoring of network against various security threats. The above network can be used for tracking threats throughout the organization. Advantage of using intrusion detection system Intrusion detection system can be used to tune specific contents in various packets of network. It can be used to check for data in respect to other protocol. It helps in easy regulation of data across various networks. It can be used for increasing the efficiency of the system. Intrusion detection system helps in providing a clear overview of the going things over the network and there are few number of alternative that help the IDS to track the depth of network traffic. It also helps in tracking of virus as soon as it hits a network. An IDS can effectively tell about the compromised machines and how a virus it propagating through a network top effect over systems. In many cases it is found to be an important tool to prevent a network from various damage. A well configured IDS can be useful to provide data that used to file a civil or criminal case against any person who misuses a network. Disadvantage of using intrusion detection system They do not prevent attacks or block them, they are mainly used for uncovering them. An Experienced and well-trained engineer is needed for administration. This particular method is more prone to protocol based attacks (PBA). The signature library of this method needs to be continuously updated to check the upcoming and latest threats related to it. An IDS cannot replace a firewall, virus scan or any security measures. As soon as an IDS is installed in the system it will require more additional efforts. Another thing that must be taken care is that managing of IDS mainly requires experience staff members. The less experienced staff of the organization, the more effort is needed for them. It will ultimately create more work for the IT department and in many cases it will make work of the IT department more difficult (Rasthofer et al.,2014). Advantage of Using Firewall Firewall improves the security of host computers and subnet and it has many advantage like it ensure the safety of host and application, ensures safety of several client and server. It also protects various pivotal departments of an organization form inner or outer attacking (Divya, Priya Kowselya, 2015). It also provides safety channel for various employees of an organization. Various client provides safety channel that passes through internet and visit long distance system. Disadvantage of using Firewall Firewalls slows down many application and may be considered as heavy on some system resources (Divya, Priya Kowselya, 2015). Firewalls can be considered difficult to remove and every host of the computer system needs to updated on regular basis using patches. Advantage of Using Data Centric Security Data Centric Security provides data protection techniques for protecting toolset to tackle masking of data, cloud protection, compliance and data residency. It also provides fast integration through various web services and high performance of Library of clients and masking of dynamic data. Disadvantage of using Data Centric Security Data Centric security provides low security with limited performance and capability. It cannot represent various complex data relationships. In Data centric security data redundancy is very common especially when the quantity or amount of data increases. Ethical, Social and Legal considerations All companies have some legal responsibilities and they are required to accept the laws which can affect the organization. For proper working of an organization company must aware of various external factors. Social responsibility aims to provide certain requirements related to social responsibility. Ethical responsibility aims to create certain guidelines which helps in the establishment of various codes of conduct. Ca ethics can be considered as a system which is mainly designed for various practice related to ethics. Conclusion From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the organization has started using technologies like firewall, intrusion detection system, data centric can be proved beneficial to various organization. Firewall is a network security which helps in maintaining and regulating its traffic over the internet using some protocol. Firewalls mainly exists mainly two forms that is DHCP which is hardware form and there are some software firewalls which is mainly for protection of a system from various malware software that may attack the system. This method is mainly used mainly used by various organization for protection against the breech of important data which contains vital information. Intrusion detection system is also known as intrusion detection and prevention system are referred to those systems which helps in keeping a track of different applications which perform some activities over the internet. It also helps in keeping a track of all the required information and various step s that must be taken to stop such activities. It mainly aims to build an alarm system for keeping a track of various unknown activity. IPS stands for intrusion prevention system which is another technology by IDS which has the capability to block various malware software the internet. Data- centric security is another technology which mainly aims to provide security against breach of data which contains important information. Various organization round the globe are very much prone to cyber-attacks. Data centric security mainly aims to provide various key points like discovery of data, classification of data, tagging of data, prevention of data loss, data visibility, management of identity and accessing of data through various cloud system. As discussed above intrusion detection system have some limitation like it does not prevent attacks or blocks them. It mainly helps in uncovering them by the help of an experienced and well-trained engineer. This particular method is more used to protocol based attacks (PBA). Recommendation From the above discussion it can be recommended that the various organization should upgrade their intrusion detection system, firewalls and data centric security. As firewall can be considered as an important security system that helps in regulation and maintenance of traffic over the network using some protocol. Hardware and software firewall are mainly two types of firewalls available over the network. DHCP is an example of a well-known hardware firewall that is used over internet. Software firewalls are mainly used to protect various system from different malware software that is available over the internet. Intrusion detection system helps in keeping a track of all the important information and various steps that must be taken to stop the activity of various malware softwares. It also performs various activities like detection of cyclic redundancy and checking of any errors related to it. Data centric security mainly aims to provide security against the breach of data which cont ains important information as no organization in the globe is immune to various cyber-attacks. Robotics can be used as an emerging technology which can improvise the speed, quality, expenditure of available products and services, on the contrary it can effect a large number of workers. The automation technology will ultimately affect the hardware, software and various self-care customer services which will improve the economy of various organization round the globe. Automation technology mainly aims to improve workface of many organization including this one. References Chen, G., Gong, Y., Xiao, P., Chambers, J. A. (2015). Invasive Alien Species free essay sample
The White Goby (Glossogobius giuris) This specie has a depressed head while the body takes on a compressed appearance towards to caudal fin. This fish usually has brown or light brown spots on the side. It ranges from 40 ââ¬â 50cm. Place of Origin: This was first introduced in the Philippines by the Philippine Fisheries Commission in 1960. It was believed that the goby was unconsciously part of the Mozambique Tilapia also an IAS. Distribution: The goby is distributed from tropical and subtropical countries. It can be found on the East Coast of Africa, Southern Asia (e. g. India) and South East Asian countries such as the Philippines. In the Philippines the first recorded white goby to be found is in Lake Mainit, Agusan Del Sur. It can also be found in Lake Lanao in Lanao Del Sur. Feeding Ecology: The white goby is said to be a carnivorous fish; it will feed on any smaller fish that comes across with it. We will write a custom essay sample on Invasive Alien Species or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In Lake Lanao, the white goby is said to have an impact on one of the cyprinid species. Positive Impact: Although the white goby eat the cyprinids it does not have a large impact on the cyprinids compared to eleotrid which feeds on three endemic cyprinid species. Negative Impact: The white goby swims in fresh water. In Lake Mainit the fish was found in their fresh water container and this was the farmââ¬â¢s main water stock. The white goby threatens the cyprinids and paleomonid shrimps. This affects the fish production. It is said that cyprinids are able to help total fish production by 9. 1% and the goby only helps by 0. 9% (Guerrero, 2002). 2. Rice Black Bug (Scotinophara coarctata) The specie is a sap feeding insect that causes a lot of damage to our rice industry. These bugs prefer marshy and wet land environments. Locally known as the ââ¬Å"itim na atangyaâ⬠. The adult bug is oval-shaped of about 8-9mm long. Place of Origin: In the Philippines, the first records introduction of the specie was in Palawan in 1972, Bicol and Sorsogon in 2004. (International Rice Research Institute, 2010). Distribution: The Rice Black Bug can be found in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, and Thailand. Feeding Ecology: The rice black bugsââ¬â¢ main host plants are rice and corn. At daytime the specie is in base of the plant and moves up to the fruit of the plant at night time. Positive Impact: More extensive research can be done on the specie especially in our agricultural country. One of our countryââ¬â¢s main crops is rice and if the specie continues to disrupt research can be done to mitigate the problem. This can also help countries that are infested with the same species. Negative Impact: The rice black bug infests rice at almost all stages of growth. When the rice field is infested by the specie, the center of the leaves turn brown and die. During the booting stage, rice panicles become empty. Both adult and young rice black bug suck the sap of the rice panicles causing the crop to decay and die (Phil Rice Los Banos OPAPA Team, 2008). 3. What are Invasive Alien Species (IAS)? Invasive Alien Species include exotic, non-native, micro and macro-species that are introduced to our country. These may be accidentally or deliberately to a place where it is not their natural habitat. Most exotic species that are introduced to areas where they have no predators or competitors tend to flourish and increase their population rapidly. IAS may become aggressive and dangerous. Studies show that Invasive Alien Species can affect native species by being its competitor, predator, and niche displacer that can result for native species to be totally extinct. Also, few reported cases that Invasive Alien Species can transfer diseases to other animals and humans. Invasive Alien Species are similar to Global Warming that threaten our environment, food security, human health and economic development especially on the agricultural sector (Joshi, 2007). 4. How are IAS introduced to the Philippines? The Philippines is described to have a high degree of biodiversity. With rapid increase in population, poverty and unlimited wants and needs have resulted to environmental destruction; increase of global trade, import and export have served as an impact to increase invasive alien species in our country. The Philippines have a few data on IAS, most of the time misunderstood due to lack of knowledge about taxonomic identity of IAS. The country also lacks on more extensive information. Most information are modes of introduction to our country. These may be one or a combination of: â⬠¢Transport of organisms to a new habitat between islands and countries. â⬠¢Establishment and propagation of IAS in the new habitat. It may be natural or man-made. â⬠¢Uncontrolled population that may be from deliberate release or accidental escape (Joshi, 2007). The Global Invasive Species Database lists that there are 47 alien species have been introduced in our country. 6 have uncertain biological status and 23 are Philippine native and invasive in other areas. 5. Read articles about the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠in the Philippines. Present solutions to minimize, if not eradicate, these invasive alien species in our freshwater ecosystem. The most recent IAS that is causing an alarm is the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠. The janitor fish has become in Marikina River, Lake Paitan, Nueva Ecija and Laguna de Bay. It was introduced by the aquarium trade industry and has escaped into natural waters. Many solutions to this problem have been implemented by Local Government Units, NGOs, and other organizations that fund different projects. In Marikina, the janitor fish have been sold to about P5. 00 per kilo then deliberately kills the fish afterwards. A World Bank has funded a project where the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠is converted to pig meals in Laguna (Guerrero, 2005). Articles show that the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠does not invade our ecosystem similar to a rice black bug that destroys our rice crops. Some studies show that direct consuming of the janitor fish can have side effects due to different elements found in it such as mercury and lead. Increasing awareness about this problem can help open up ideas to other people that can provide better ways of eradicating the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠. Continued research on the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠skins to be used as handy craft materials is one way of addressing the problem. Research on elements that are inside the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠that can be used in producing bio-fuels. With the studies and researches of people have done in the past years we should insert the idea of an ââ¬Å"economic demandâ⬠. With extensive information in the future the ââ¬Å"janitor fishâ⬠may help is both economic and environmental concerns in our country. Creating a Better Zadie Smith Sat Sample EssayOne of the most popular high school essay topics is Zadie Smith's first sample essay, The Royal Road to Reading. From this sample essay comes some great ideas for your own essay and several ways to make it a much better essay than it is.The first paragraph in the Zadie Smith sample is one of the best parts of the essay. It is what sets it apart from the other samples. All three samples begin by talking about a trip to France. This sample starts out with an explanation of why she is going to Paris.Zadie Smith's paragraph begins with her story of her trip to New York. Her paragraph then explains that when she was sixteen, she went through a series of events that shaped her life. She went from being very unhappy and feeling like she was not good enough to have anything else in her life, to going to Paris. In her next paragraph, Zadie talks about the difference between her life and that of her friend who had also gone to Paris. Her friend foun d happiness, though it did not come easy. Her friend did so after she met a man that changed her life.Zadie Smith then talked about what happened to her friend. The friends she lost are gone, but her happiness and how she overcame them remains. This is why Zadie felt she was happy, and it is also why the majority of Zadie's students were happy.Zadie Smith's paragraph is a description of what happened when she was sixteen. This is a good idea because then the reader can relate to it better. Another good thing about Zadie's paragraph is that the reader can see that she wrote the sample by researching other examples of essays on the subject. She knows the types of problems that are common to all students, and she has dealt with those before. In addition to these two ideas, the second paragraph in the Zadie Smith Sat Sample essay is one of the best paragraphs.
